Hayley Kew Doula - Providing support, comfort, and advice to expectant mothers before, during and after the birth of their baby.
“My husband and I interviewed several doulas before we decided that Hayley was the right match for us. She was accessible for my neurotic pregnancy questions, available as soon as I started labour (though I didn’t actually KNOW that I had started labour, as my water “leaked” instead of “broke”), and supportive throughout the process of delivery. I had been so worried about everything as a first time Mom, and Hayley made my husband and I feel like we were doing OK. After our daughter’s birth, Hayley helped me with breastfeeding, and advised me on the best way to keep my boobs from hurting (hooray for Lansinoh!!), and when everything else fell into place so easily, she was able to use some of our last sessions to teach us some basics of infant massage. She has been (and continues to be) a wonderful resource throughout, and I would have no hesitancy in recommending her services to any other families. Please feel free to contact me directly if you wish to discuss Hayley’s wonderfulness further :)”

“Hayley was a wonderful resource, both throughout pregnancy, during labour and delivery, and postpartum. She is knowledgeable, considerate and happily answered the many questions we had about life with a newborn. During labour and delivery, she was great at keeping my spirits up, and providing information that assisted us in making decisions throughout the process. In the early days with a newborn, she was an extra set of hands and a reassuring presence that let me know that yes, this is normal for a newborn. I couldn’t have done it without Hayley, and I would recommend her to anyone seeking a doula for labour and the postpartum period.”

“I would heartily recommend Hayley as a labour and post-partum doula. Hayley is a warm, down-to-earth, caring person and was a welcome presence at the birth of our first child. Working with her prior to the birth gave us confidence that we could have the experience that we wished for. Her birth story is a treasured memento in our house.”

“As first time parents, we were a bit nervous going in to the last phase of pregnancy. We hired Hayley to assist us with our delivery and we were very pleased with her services. She helped us prepare for our birth, assisted us with our birth plan, answered any questions we had and was a reassuring voice during the entire process. During labour, Hayley followed our lead and stepped in to help when asked but also gave us space and privacy when appropriate. After the birth, she was there to help with breastfeeding, bathing, massage and support. She was always available for consultation and supported us in our choices all along the way. I would recommend her to anyone seeking the support of a Doula.”

“My husband and I came to know of Hayley through the internet when I was researching Doula Services. I called Hayley and set up a meeting in our home and we were thrilled with her upon our first meeting. Hayley was very relaxed and knowledgeable about the whole birthing process - as this was my first child, I had a lot of questions. Hayley answered them all. Hayley provided us with written materials and videos which were both helpful. In the end, I had to have a Caesarean birth. I remember Hayley being very supportive to myself as well as my husband throughout the whole ordeal. I now have a 7 month old healthy baby girl. I would not hesitate to recommend Hayley to anyone.”

“My husband and I met with a few doula’s before making our decision. As soon as we met Hayley, we knew that her demeanour was what we were looking for. She was very relaxed and calm - important things during labour! She also wasn’t pushy or too take charge, the way one of the doula’s we met was. We didn’t want to hire someone who was going to take over, we wanted a doula who would follow our wishes and know when to step up, but also when to step back.I liked Hayley, but I let my husband really be the one to make the decision, since he would be working closely with her during the labour (everything for me was a bit of a blur during labour!).As for her role during the labour, we decided to have our baby at home. It was Hayley’s first home birth, so she was very excited to be apart of things. We called her early on in the labour, it being our first baby we weren’t sure what stage we were at when we called. It was midnight, but she came right away. She helped my husband help me through the early stages. During the labour, she told us when to call the midwife, which was really, really helpful. Our midwife came and checked me out, then went home and told Hayley at what stage to call again. As the labour got more intense, Hayley was able to do some massage techniques on me. She also knew how to use the tens machine. Having her around for the duration of the labour gave my husband a break as well. We never had to worry about her, she made herself right at home, found what she needed, she even had her own snacks. I really needed Hayley there as an extra set of hands during the pushing stage. I had her on one side and my husband on the other helping me out. I couldn’t imagine going through that with just one person to help. After the labour, she stayed for a few hours. She helped me and the baby with latching and made sure I had everything I needed. We had her in for two visits after the birth. At the visits she helped me with breastfeeding, answered all my new mom questions and worries, and showed us some massage techniques to use on our baby to relieve gas pains (we still use these all the time!).After the birth, Hayley wrote out a birth story from her perspective. This is something I really cherish. She is so calm, gentle, and caring, the exact things I needed as a new mother.”
